We’re hosting a fun, hands‑on upcycling workshop, and drumroll... you're invited!

Join us for a relaxed, creative workshop where you can refresh old textiles using art and simple techniques to reduce textile waste.

Bring along a pre-loved shirt, tote, hoodie, or any fabric scraps that could use a glow-up and some love. We'll have fabric painting supplies, bleaching art materials, sewing basics gear, and plenty of inspo.

You can:

  • Create your own upcycled piece that reflects your values

  • Refresh old items like stained totes or faded tees

  • Learn simple techniques including painting, bleaching, patches, appliqués, and more

  • Hang out, meet others, and get hands‑on in a friendly, community‑driven space

  • Connect with people who care about reducing textile waste and building a more sustainable future together

If you are planning to bleach clothing, materials with 100% cotton work best.

This workshop is family‑friendly and perfect for beginners, no experience needed! Children under 10 must be supervised.

You'll also have the chance to meet and chat with your local Greens representatives, including your local ward Councillor, Isabella Do; South-Eastern Metropolitan Lead Candidate, Matthew Kirwan; and Mordialloc Candidate, Alex Breskin.

There will be a delicious array of snacks and hot beverages, but please BYO mug!

Feel free to drop in anytime or stay for the whole workshop.

We hope you'll leave with new skills, an upcycled item you’ve transformed yourself, and a deeper sense of how small creative actions can help reduce textile waste.

Please leave a note in the comments if you are bringing any children on the day (as we're unable to register them independently in the event form).

Room hire is kindly covered by the Casey–Dandenong Branch. All supplies and materials are covered by Isabella in a personal capacity, separate from her role as a councillor.
