GREENS MEMBER-ONLY SOCIAL EVENT
Are you disabled*? Are you LGBTIQA+? Are you an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person? Are you any or all of the above? Then this casual dinner is for you!
Whether you're a member of one of our existing working groups** or not, we'd love you to join us at a casual dinner at The Burrow in West End!
Food & drink - at your cost
You can find the venue menu here to assess cost and options. The Burrow has been chosen with location, accessibility, vegan and vegetarian and gluten free options, and cost in mind, but we appreciate it still might not be financially accessible for some.
Unlike last year's event, we do not need to pre-order meals huzzah! However, please be aware that this will mean meals will not all come out at the same time on the night, so please feel free to start eating when your food arrives!
Why is this happening?
This is a chance for us to meet in person and get to know each other outside meetings and Greens discussion spaces.
Timing wise, we are taking advantage of the annual Diverse State Council on Sunday 24 May 2026 where branches across Queensland Greens are encouraged to appoint diverse members as their delegates.
In particular, diverse members from Rural & Regional branches who are appointed as their branch delegates can travel to Brisbane in person (at the party's cost). We would love to see Rural & Regional members!
But if you're local already, or in town anyway even if you're not attending State Council, please also feel free to join us.
Limited booking - please RSVP by Wednesday 20 May 2026
We have booked a table for 20 people, including organising volunteers, so if you're planning to attend please RSVP by Wednesday 20 May, and let us know if you can no longer attend in case there is a wait list (We may be able to increase the booking if there is heaps of interest.)
Accessibility - Covid Protective measures
It isn't possible to guarantee Covid safety at any in person event.
To do our best to protect each other, we ask that attendees follow the same Covid protection guidelines as for State Council, and 1) take a check RAT before attending on the day (staying home if they test positive), and 2) stay home if they test positive for Covid any time within the previous 7 days, or are feeling unwell or have symptoms on the day.
Depending on how cold it is, we will either have a table outside in the back garden area, or we will be inside and the venue has agreed to allow us to bring a large room HEPA Filter to set up near our table. If we are outside, please bring a coat or jacket just in case! We will contact all attendees to let you know inside/outside location before the night.
Accessibility - General
The Burrow restaurant has a downstairs area that is fully wheelchair accessible. There is a steep ramp from the footpath down to the indoor eating area. There is also a ramp between the indoor eating area to the outside garden area. The Burrow has a wheelchair-accessible toilet on the same level as the downstairs eating area.
The Burrow staff have confirmed that they will facilitate ordering food and drinks from the table (as the bar and ordering section is upstairs).
For those travelling from the limited in person State Council workshops that day at State Office, 31 Merivale St, South Brisbane, the public transport travel time is approximately 10 minutes, You can walk 300m to the Cultural Centre bus stop, to catch a 199 bus.
The 199 bus will drop you off at Boundary St at Jane Street, stop 6 which is right outside The Burrow.
Parking is often limited in West End, so you might need to park in side streets and walk from your park to the venue.
