Join Jenny Leong MP and President of the NSW Council for Civil Liberties Timothy Roberts as they discuss the urgent need for a Human Rights Act in NSW.
From decimating our right to protest to extending cruel bail laws that disproportionately impact First Nations kids, the NSW government is playing fast and loose with our human rights. Unlike in Queensland, Victoria, and the ACT, there is no legislation in NSW that protects our rights to vote, to protest, and to equal treatment before the law.
We need a Human Rights Act that can protect the dignity and equality of everyone in NSW — and that includes access to essentials such as housing, healthcare and
education.
That’s why the Greens introduced legislation to NSW parliament last October to do just that. With a Labor minority government and a progressive crossbench, now is the time for NSW to catch up with other states and territories, like the ACT which has had a Human Rights Act for over 20 years.
Register to join Jenny Leong MP and Timothy Roberts, President of the NSW Council for Civil Liberties, in conversation about the Greens bill and this long overdue reform.
